OUT NOW – Ben Venom – Head Shot / Paradox……

.

Ben Venom is back once again for his 3rd release on Definition:breaks, and he continues to show how to throw down some massive hardcore breaks action.

Head Shot is Ben at his best – with strong beats, a breakdown which flows into some wicked filthy bass and then drops with a smash, leading to the trademark oldskool stabs – this one is definitely sums up the hardcore breaks side of the label up perfectly!

And to back it up, Paradox just goes to show that filth and breaks can still find new directions – with the basslines giving way to a wicked piano drop halfway through…..

.

Rollin out as an exclusive to www.nu-rave.com download store late January and at all other major download stores from 16th February.

.

Feedback for the release….

Bill Vega - Head Shot: solid slamming breaks, nice old skool stabs and heavy bass action. Paradox: more slamming breakbeat, darker feel, love the breakdown – epic stuff, reminds me off the ‘95 dnb vibe. Sweet release

Ceos (Downbeat) – Head Shot is my pick of the two. Driven, raw and well produced!

Lightshapers – love the way headshot goes from full on tear out and then brings the ravey stabs in later on. not much else to say apart from BIG.

TRO – All over Paradox with that rollin beat and the dark atmosphere. Head Shot is tasty, too.

Llupa - Both of these are massive! Loving the breakdown in Paradox

OUT NOW ….. Lunar Shift drop the first offering of 2010 for the label…..

Just to start 2010 off in fine style, Definition:breaks have another monster slice of Cambridge duo – Lunar Shift. Ian Radcliffe and Dan Hicks are no strangers to dancefloor pounding basslines and massive beats – and this release just keeps that tradition well and truly alive…

Bass definitely lives up to its name with booming sub-bass that rumbles through the track alongside Lunar Shift trademark strong quality beats and a killer synth hook….

What You Think steps into the deeper and slightly more sinister side of breaks – but still manages to keep the dancefloor in focus with its massive drop into a killer bassline riff with added filth, more solid heavy beats and a wicked breakdown…..

.

OUT NOW!! Eddie Voyager hits the streets this week…….

Eddie Voyager has become a main player in the hardcore breaks / nu-rave scene and has been producing his own material for 7 years. The Welsh hardcore master started his own label, Gurnin Beatz, in 2006 and had 3 massive releases within the scene. Then last year he set up a digital only label called Held 2 Ransom alongside Richie K (Strange Rollers). Having always loved nuskool breaks he secured a radio show on NSB Radio earlier this year, and he has at last started to bust out the studio with some fresh flavours.

Definition:breaks is proud to bring you Eddie’s first breaks release – My Way. With absolutely solid beats, heavy basslines and female vocal hooks this track is gonna steam roller its way onto the dancefloors. And Lunar Shift are back with a remix which flips the script and gives the track a different flavour and a new darker dimension to the bassline.

Sinners Inc = Filth……

Sinners Inc. are among the darkest acts in breakbeat. Josh Manion (Bitfiend) and Rik deMeyer (Rik Fade) make up the production duo from Milwaukee, US. Both have a long-established history in the Electronic Dance Music community. Bitfiend, a seasoned veteran of drum n bass production and DJing alike, has numerous releases under his belt, including several evil tunes on the influential DnB label Habit Recordings. On the flip side, Rik Fade has been a staple in the Midwest breakbeat scene for years, and is in demand among the EDM community for his choice selection of evil-as-all-hell tearout tunes. Sinners, Inc. have gained much recognition for their first release on Scrape Recordings – Chaos State and Bow Down, and their gut wrenching bass lines and insanely intricate drum work has attracted international attention from some of the most sought after breakbeat producers and DJ’s in the scene today.

Definition:breaks are very proud to bring you Sinners Inc’s second release – I Believe and Pain. This release is another trip into the darkest realms of breaks, with monster sub-bass and evil strings these tracks will have you hiding behind the sofa in fear! You have been warned.

Ben Venom brings forth his second offering – and I am sure it isn’t his last……

Definition:breaks always likes to keep it hardcore and oldskool influenced, and Ben Venom is a prime example of just that! For his 2nd release on the label Ben sticks to the programme and gives us 2 more slices of filthy bassline hardcore breaks action.

The Duke Of Breaks is an adrenaline filled monster of a tune that doesn't know when to quit – with oldskool and nuskool breaks, big basslines, and a wicked breakdown that turns to total filth with half-steppin beats, this track continues to prove that nuskool and hardcore / nu-rave sit happily side by side…

And Already Dead continues in the same vein but brings on the oldskool stabs and flavour to keep vibes fresh for 2009…

Conectivers are back……

For their 2nd release on Defintion:breaks, Conectivers come correct and deliver another two slices of tearin breaks and monster basslines.

“Knobs” started its life as a free download from the Conectivers website, but as we liked it so much we asked for a VIP mix – and this is the result – heavier and darker!

“Blood” is pure Conectivers at their best – wicked breakdowns and filthy bassline riffs.

Back to Spain once more – this time to debut LoseYourMind who are making some big noise…..

LoseYourMind are 2 young DJ / Producers from Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz, Spain). In early 2008, after several years of individual projects, they decided to unite to merge their musical styles.
They have appeared at many Spanish events alongside the likes of: Plump DJs, Rennie Pilgrem, JDS, Ctrl Z, Far Too Loud, The Autobots, The Breakfasterz, Sonz of Mecha, Dilemn White Pappo, D-Ranged, MKM & GBX, Dom Almond, Afghan Headspin, Ribs & Ig88 and Hoffman.

With a releases and remixes under their belt on Chipsound Records, Badbwoy Bass Recordings and Infinity Sounds Records it looks like we are gonna hear plenty more from LoseYourMind – Stay tuned!

After a short break – we hit the stores once again with this absolute ripper……

Lunar Shift aka Ian Radcliffe and Dan Hicks, two guys with very different backgrounds in the dance music arena. After 10 years of classical training in piano and trumpet Ian began his dance music career in the mid 90’s making Hardcore/D&B and releasing on several different imprints under various aliases including DJ Morph, Synergy & Agent X

Dan spent his early days in the House scene, DJ’ing under various guises, but becoming increasingly disillusioned with the scene’s musical output. They finally met in 1999 and it was then they discovered that Breakbeat was their spiritual home

The pair then played under different signatures until in 2006 the Lunar Shift project was born. The next obvious step was to start producing their own material which they have done to a fair degree of success. With releases this year on Electrofly, Supatronix and Ego Shot and with tracks remixed by artists such as Precision Cuts, DJ Mutiny and Myagi along side radio play from Annie Nightingale (Radio 1 [UK]) and Jay Cunning (Kiss FM [UK]) plus more great material in the pipeline, the future is looking bright.

The Cello is massive slice of dancefloor dynamite. With cello stabs, catchy riffs, and filthy basslines this track is gonna do some serious damage! And on remix duties we have hardcore supremo DJ Deluxe (Knite Force, Rogue Squadron) who puts a hardcore breaks slant on the track switching things up with a piano and awesome sub-bass.
